Ikageng

Operating under lockdown

I am writing this letter to express my care and concern regarding the COVID 19 (CORONAVIRUS). The pandemic has created a truly unprecedented situation which affects our families, business, communities and the way of life.

First and foremost, the virus is so new that we know little about it, and it is now widespread across the globe. As our government is making all attempts and putting regulations in place to reduce the spread of the disease, all of us are still very cautious and alert at all times.  We assume if any of us gets relaxed, the virus may be reintroduced and causing the second wave of infection.

Secondly, Ikageng has been operating as normal throughout all the levels of lockdown as we have been categorized as essential service.  We are also doing our best to keep our beneficiaries whenever they visit the premises, and our employees as safe as possible, including advising them to wear face masks and keep social distancing. We have also been restricted from conducting all home visits and adherence support groups to secure the health and well being of our employees and their families.

Working from home, because of the nature of our business, poses its own challenges,  but we have been encouraged  to reduce on-site workforce by 50%.  The shift has been smooth so far and we continue to deliver the highest levels of performance and availability as we have noted that these are the times our communities and beneficiaries need us more,  and how truly sacred our work is,  and must be preserved.

We are acting with courageous conviction that this is not a war, but an awakening to changing to new approaches, as it is not business as usual, and our willingness to embrace change.

As we go forward, we will be sure that to keep you updated, and know that we always value your questions, ideas and feedback. Our team remains committed to serving and supporting the most vulnerable in our communities through these very unchartered times, and on behalf of our team,  we wish you well and that you stay healthy.

We value your support and need you more than ever, in whatever way that you find it reasonable to support.

We can do this together.

God bless South Africa and protect her people.
